Frequently Asked Questions

INDIVIDUAL COACHING

What are the main differences between coaching and therapy?

Coaching is more current and future-oriented (whereas therapy is more past-focused)

Coaching is best for people overall doing well but seeking more growth, clarity, and fulfillment in their lives. It focuses on teaching and equipping you with practical mindset shifts and action steps, strategies, accountability, and awareness.

Therapists are trained in uncovering and processing root causes of mental and emotional distress, trauma processing/healing, and helping manage mental health diagnoses such as depression, anxiety disorder, and PTSD.

A client and a coach work together in a collaborative relationship and co-create goals and the roadmap to achieve them. Coaches are not licensed as mental health professionals.

Do you exclusively coach working moms?

While I feel uniquely drawn to helping my fellow working moms (many of whom also work in the medical field), I do work with any woman who desires more peace, lasting change, and wants to feel more balanced and alive.

What kind of support can I expect from your coaching services?

You’ll receive personalized support, including mindset work, emotional awareness and regulation, nervous system regulation, stress reduction techniques, actionable strategies, practical tools, and ongoing guidance from me to help you navigate your specific challenges and reach your goals.

How long do you work with people for? What is the cost?

I offer 3 month and 6 month coaching packages for individual sessions.

3 month client-coaching relationship investment: $2000

6 months client-coaching relationship: $3750

How will I track my progress throughout the coaching sessions?

You’ll receive regular feedback, action steps, and accountability during our work together to help you apply and integrate the tools into your daily life.

PRIVATE MEDICAL CONSULTING & COACHING

What type of doctor are you?

I am board-certified in both physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) and hospice and palliative medicine.

How much clinical experience do you have?

I have been caring for patients for over a decade in an acute care/hospital setting.

Why can’t my primary care doctor just help me with all my medical decisions?

While primary care doctors are wonderful to oversee your medical care, they do not have the time that is truly needed to make sure you fully understand all your medical conditions, their impacts on your function and quality of life, and all the mental and emotional aspects of your care. I have specialized communication training to effectively collaborate with multiple physician specialists and provide “the big picture” to put all the pieces together.

Do you see patients in an office?

I do not. I offer virtual visits as well as home visits in the Columbus, OH metro area.

Do you talk to my family members about my medical care and wishes?

Only with your written, informed consent. It is often very helpful to include your loved ones in discussions and decisions so they know what you do and don’t want.

I’m not all that sick. I don’t have a terminal condition. Why should I talk about uncomfortable things like life-sustaining treatment preferences right now?

I work with patients every day who have unexpected, sudden changes in their health. Having these conversations well before they are “needed” relieves stress on you and your family, and continuing to re-address them as your health and preferences change over time is key to ensuring that you receive all the medical care you DO want and avoiding all the types of interventions you DON’T want.

Do you take medical insurance?

Because I work with you and your family privately and provide medical consulting, I do not take any commercial insurance and am private pay only. Service fees are often able to be reimbursed using your FSA/HSA funds.

What are the costs to work with you privately?

Because each patient is an individual with unique needs and goals, I will talk with you to do an intake and recommend a duration of time to work together based on these things, so the financial investment varies.

Do you prescribe medications?

I do not prescribe or manage any medications. I can collaborate with your medical team to keep them up to speed on your medical goals and treatment preferences and decisions.

Why does talking about all these things matter?

To ensure the best possible quality of life for you as well as ensuring you are able to make informed decisions about all aspects of your medical care, that are in true alignment with your unique values and goals.
